Thats exactly why I want a set. I've put them on everything from Duallys to an 09' Tahoe. They really do ride nice and they just look the business, can't wait to put a set on my XJ.

When I do buy new tires I have pretty much decided on 31" duratracs, I can get em for $150 each. I was actually looking at them yesterday
wishing...
They will be my main driving and rain/snow tire. Then get some 33" mudders.

Where'd you find 31s for 150? I'm goin 35 or 36 and 230$ is cheapest I could find for those. Think the 31s were like 185. Btw.duratracs have pretty damned good reviews in the mud.

I have a discount at americas tire, I guess it would be like 160 each, installed.
they are 182 with regular rebate right now.
and hm they are good enough in the mud too? thye might just be the universal awesomeness then! I was just wanting bigger mud tires mostly as I dont want over 31's for the dding.
WOW i just saw how old this thread is, hows the tires twister, lol.

The basic Wrangler Radial that the OP poster mentions for around $79 per tire is a 30 year-old design.
They are soft and wear quickly on the road. Average mileage is about 25-30 K.
They were OK 30 years ago but are primitive now. Just sold as a bargain basement tire.
They are a thin, lightweight tire best suited on on-road use.
Since you don't pay much, you don't get much.

If you had 16 inch rims the authoritys would be nice. the only issue i have seen repeatedly with the radials is the side walls dont like abuse(curbs, shoulders, rock or whatever) I work for the tle at walmart and we sell them like crazy because they are cheap. The tires at walmart are wamlart specials and some are great some are garbage. The radial dont have enuf gaps to clean mud or snow once packed in but do offer a decent grip in both. they should put them on without to much worry or at least i would. my xj had bad sag in the rear and 235's didnt rub. You could also try for the uniroyal liberator at. i think they are around 90 a piece there and offer better tread life and better grip, and offered in a p( passenger) or xl( extra load) you get the tires mounted for free with the purchase and a life time rotation and balnce for 6.50. makes it convenient.

thanks...I got lucky and bought it off the orig owner that only towed it behind his motor home..when I got it it only had 68k miles on it...it just clicked 77k today...as far as the Authoritys they are a very good tire for the price. I will buy them again over another as they have been real good in snow and mudeverything..no side wall issues to date..my 245.00 a piece MTRs on my wrangler have side wall issues....infact I got seven plugs in the now spare...right where it says "dura wall construction" the irony Authoritys are a good tire
