My roommate told me about these tires. They look pretty good. They even make them in 31x10.5.


And I just saw the new MT/R


Any thoughts?

 

I like em both. I like the Duratrac, looks more like a very aggressive AT tire. I'd buy it.

Those MTR's are just the kevlar version, but they look pretty sweet.

 

I'm thinking the Dura Trac would be great in the snow, with all the siping. I wonder how much stronger the Kevlar is than the regular version. I like the tread designs on both of these. I may have to get the Dura Tracs my Xterrains are loud on the road and are only ok off-road, but they came with the XJ so its ok.

 

The MT/R looks sweet, however impractical if your Jeep is a dd

 

I've heard that the MT/R's are pretty quiet on road but they are a little overkill for a DD, but they do look cool. haha

 

There is a guy on JeepForum that posted a pic of his XJ with the duratracs. Lots of good things I'm hearing about the duratracs. I think I'll buy them instead of silent armors.

 

unless you have a rediculous commute or don't go off-road, IMO get m/t tires. I have been dd'ing my junk for over a year now with m/t's and other than the fact they're a little noisy, they're fine on the street and you can't argue with the peace of mind they provide off road. Its nice to know you're gonna have traction.

 

I think anything is quieter than my Xterrains. haha

 

Just got my Wrangler Duratrac 31's on Saturday.....now just waiting to find the wheels that I want.

These are bad *** looking tires for the $$$$$$

How much and from where? I'll be getting the 31's when I'm ready for new tires.

I like both but would use the Duratracs over the others. Plus the price is cheap as can be for Goodyears.

Plus as someone wanted to know above, Kevlar will keep the tire more rigid, unless using steel.

 

Hello all, I'm a newbie on the forum, I just joined yesterday. However, I've been watching the forums for some time. For the past 2 years my job has required me to go wheeling quite often. It was tough but someone had to do it. Now I've been reassigned to new projects, and have to wheel on my own dime. So I bought a XJ. I needed 4 doors and didn't want to pay for a 4 door JK. Plus they're cheep.
So you're probably asking why am I posting on this thread. And what job pays you to wheel?
I'm a new tire development engineer for GY. I spent the last 2-3 years developing the new MT/R w/ Kevlar. So, if you have any specific questions about these tires, I can answer them. I'll do it within reason; I can't give out proprietary information. And, I'm not going to come on here and try to pimp the tire all over the place. I'm not on this forum on GY's behalf; I'm just an enthusiast who wants to enjoy his new hobby.
I do appreciate all of the information that I have gained from this forum thus far, Thank you. My intent is to be a contributor. What I have to offer is 10+ years of tire design experience. I won't offer opinions on what tire outperforms the other tire. Even though I've tested enough tires to know, and I'm a little bias. What I can offer is practical advice about tire application and usage. Again, I offer my personal experience and knowledge, not any resources or information owned by GY.

I bought them at a local Goodyear Station here in Westminster, Colorado and the total for 4 (31x10.50x15) was $588 (not mounted or balanced and no tire disposal fee)

Haven't mounted mine yet because, I still need to buy a lift and determine what style of wheels that I want to roll on!
