Good Deal?
I found a 2000 XJ with a 3" lift and BFG 31" mud terrains, has 226,000 on the chassis, and 60,000 on a rebuilt motor, 4x4 works fine, only real issue is that the body is kind of beat up, they also took the fender flares off so it would stop rubbing, they're asking $1500, which I feel like is a reasonable price for the truck, and it has a header with an upgraded exhaust, what do you guys think?

Do you have any pictures of it?
If it truly has only 60,000 miles on it, it does sound like a decent price. But, I would still try to talk him down a little. At least that is what I would do.

I don't have any pictures, but I figured if I could get them down to about $1300 I'd be doing alright with it, I already have a 1996 Cherokee Country 4x4, but I just want something newer

It does sound like a good deal at that price. Some pics of the body would be great. Also, curious as to exactly why the engine was rebuilt. Was it due to a head crack? If so, does it have a TUPY head now or did they just put a 0331 back on?
Whats the motivation behind newer, exactly? Normally people want new vehicles because everything's in good shape, but if the XJ you're looking at is "kinda beat up" I don't quite follow you...

I don't know exactly what head they put back, I'm guessing the OEM head, but I just like the newer interiors better, and I only have 1500 into my 96, so I have enough to get another, and two cherokees are always better than one right? lol

Hard to say. I paid 2 years ago 1500 for my 1995 with 54K on the clock. I now have 87K. Since I do not do serious off roading and it is my DD I would like a decent looking body still...
So IMO 1000 or keep shopping...

Depends on your location. I have a feeling that at that price, people around here would snap it up. Then again, used car dealerships still try to sell them for around $7000 and private sellers still start off with a $3000+ asking price. I bought my 96 for $2000 after talking the guy down from $2500.
