Default gonna try the no no

manifold has two cracks im going to tig them with stainless rod, mabey since the stainlees like heat better it wont crack again, if it dose time for the APN unit

pics soon to follow.

Any preheat and post heat? Even using the BBQ grill is better than nothing. Just my opinion.

i can dump heat into it with my tig " like a torch " and heat it that way before i focus the arc and weld. i have used my tig to heat large bolts and turn them into hooks. works pretty good.

like the exhaust manifold?

dont bother, toss it. you can get a header for less than 125 shipped new, with gasket. The job isnt as bad as it looks. I just did one.

i just cant help my self. i want to tinker. i dought it last long. i plan to buy the APN unit unless there's another good not so spendy header.

i'm new to my jeep figure taking it all part a few times will help me get some knowledge of it. that's why i called it doing the no no no your right i am pissing into the wind doing this from what i have read up on this manifold.

i got a used manifold for free so i can weld this one up, and pull the old one out its tottaly fubared. i will snap some pics of it. its rather ugly.

I wish I could just throw $125 at a fix I could do for free, like there was nothing to it.

Oops, I was thinking the manifold was made of cast steel like engine blocks.

I've had to "repair" the headers on my Mustang in different spots a few time and just used my wire welder turned turned way down.

like the remote control for the TV.... i can take it apart and almost put it back together. best way to learn how something works.

don't take the black smith wrong. he is correct best expenditure of my time would be to just replace it. i do kinda hate doing things twice, but i have a S tone of free time on my hands right now. tinkering keeps me sane

from what i read for the most part yes. you will, need to do a little clearance work for it to fit. but from pics i have seen not very invasive.

on another note. these manifolds are simple enough , im surprised i haven't seen more threads for home brew custom headers.
