The stock filters are made to handle all the airflow your engine can handle, the biggest advantage to k&n is you can clean them and reuse.
I just use ngk,champions plugs.

K&N Drop-In Air Filter (33-2122)
K&N Oil Filter (HP-2004)
Champion SPark Plugs (RC12LYC) - how many, 6 or 12 for the straight 6, 4.0L

what about:

Pollen Filter
Fuel Filter
Oil

Not sure about currently, but about a year ago, I saw an oil filter writeup where a guy took apart a ton of filters, and did a writeup comparing all of them, with lots of pics.

He found that the K&N was internally identical to the considerably cheaper Mobil1 filter. The only difference was that the K&N had the nut welded to the top.

He also found that the Mobil1 filter was ALSO internally identical to the considerably cheaper Purolator Premium filter. Makes sense, as they're all made by Purolator. The Purolator however, was like $6, while the Mobil was like $10, and the K&N was like $15.

My advice is to save the money and get the Purolator. Or a Wix. Or anything but Fram. Personally I use Wix because my local parts store doesn't carry Purolator, and I've seen enough pictures of the insides of Frams that I'll be scared away for life.

that's what I thought but my mech was saying something about 12 - I wasn't really listening as I had my mind (well, my eyes at least) on something else

I just put this cap/rotor/plug wire set along with some Champion 412 plugs on my XJ and it definitely smoothed out the idle.

The only downside is the color, but I guess I can get over that.
