I have a front bumper with tubing going from each side, and it goes up by the park lights and top of the grille. I run trees down and it's does great.

JDM makes a real nice bumper that covers your whole grill and lights but you're talking about some $$$$

Mine is custom fabbed and sits high, as well as being on a lifted vehicle. It has a skid plate that goes from level of the bottom of the grill down to the tie rod area. It is at an angle so that if you hit something, it deflects the animal under the rig where it will roll around under there where there is armor and stuff. It is almost impossible to make a bumper that will take a hit from a deer and not trash the front frame as well as the body. It works. I haven't bagged any deer with it yet, but i hit a good sized dog that would have bent up a stock bumper and the animal just rolled around underneath and survived.

My wife bagged three with her car.

Default Great Bumpers for XJ's

Hey check out ajsoffroadarmor.com. He's located in Iowa, builds outstanding bumpers, tire carriers, rock sliders, etc. Most of his work is custom, but don't let that scare you off. He's a small shop and very reasonable. Can't beat his designs, and he'll modify them to meet your needs. Or do a total custom job. I looked for a long time before buying from him. He did my front winch bumper and rear bumper/tire carrier. Very happy! Look at the front bumper pictures, mine is the dark blue XJ with the winch bumper with the small front loop. ARB roof rack with IFP lights on top. Pictures were before installing the rear bumper, so in the pics the rear bumper is stock. AJ is a great guy, easy to deal with and an avid off roader.
