Here are some ideas:

Service items

• All fluids: Oil, coolant, differential, transfer case, transmission, power steering, brakes.
• Cooling system: Radiator, cap, water pump, thermostat, all hoses, Fan clutch
• Flush cooling system
• Replace distributor, plugs, wires, coil.
• Clean Throttle body
• Battery
• Battery Cables
• New brakes/rotors.
• New front and rear wipers
• Serpentine belt
• Air filter
• O2 sensor
• Valve Cover Gasket (leak) and 2 PCV valves
• Oil filter adapter (leak)
• 4 new shocks
• Tranny mounts
• Motor mounts
• Seal rust (floorpans, doors, rockers, etc)

Things to inspect

• Replace tires?
• Replace Clockspring? (airbag light, no horn, no cruise control)
• Any burnt out bulbs?
• Check exhaust (muffler and catalytic converter)
• Cracked Exhaust Manifold?
• Any cracked vacuum lines?
• Secure rattling 4WD shifter?
• Driver’s door check pin and bracket (popping door?)
• Fix all windows (motor, bypass lock switch)?
• Flush clogged radiator core?
• Hood Release Cable?
• Replace Rear Liftgate Struts?
• Replace worn suspension (Front Lower Steering Stabilizer, Front SwayBar Bushings and End Links)
• Replace worn U-joints
• Replace worn Wheel bearings
• Squeaky steeering wheel? Lube Steering Column Boot (from inside)

Optional service items before they die on you

• Alternator
• CPS/CKP sensor
• Replace TPS (throttle position sensor)
• Replace IAC/ICV (idle control valve/motor)

Another thing to do, if your oil pressure runs low sometimes - remove oil pressure sending unit and run a zip-tie or fuzzy pipe cleaner through it and gunk might come out - then replace oil pressure sending unit.

 

Oops. Didn't see the MANUAL part in the link I gave. It is an automatic transmission.

I was looking at the websites for the shops near me and I found this tranny fluid. Does it have to be Mercon III/Dexron? or could it be Mercon/Dexron?

I've noticed that sometimes at a stoplight the oil pressure gauge will show a little bit of a drop but then as soon as I'm moving or have my foot on the gas it goes right back up to normal. Is this normal?

Thankfully there are ZERO knocking noises. Not a single one coming from any component on my Jeep

 

Looks like it will work, but read the back label on the bottle to make sure it says it complies with Dexron III/Mercon.

Advance sells Dexron III/Mercon ATF under its label. Just a bit cheaper than the brand name stuff.

 

Yes, it's normal. The oil pump is driven directly by the engine, so it slows down at idle. It's most pronounced once the engine warms up and the oil thins out a bit.

 

Ditto. My oil is 20lbs at idle and 40 at speed. Well its actually about 43 now after my last oil change. I'm not sure if my filter is restricting a bit or if I put a tiny too much in......hmmm....
But yes. That's normal.
