Default Gearing Options

hey guys, this is my first post here. I was always a chevy guy and bought my first jeep. So far i love it.

But anyways onto my question..

Im getting a set of full width 1tons (hp60 and a FF60 rear)

I plan to run 37's when the build is complete locked front and rear, i plan to do all types of wheeling Trails, rocks, mud, etc. so would i be better off with a 4.88 gear ratio or a 5.13?

I will also be driving the truck regularly on the road so i would like it to run decent RPM's and stuff down the highway.

Any suggestions would be great thanks guys.

5.13s will be fine. Not sure why you're running dana 60s for such a small tire but whatever floats your boat.

well i found a good deal on a set so i figure i mind as well build 60's rather than 44's.. and coming from the chevy world its all about 60s. and i also figure the axles will stay with me for a long time, and im going to leaf spring the front of the jeep. so i can put them under a yj if i ever decide to or another chevy down the road... who knows

thanks for you opinion tho.

I am currently running 4.56s with my 35s and they are OK but when I put on my 38s it drags a#@. I would go with 5.13s and on the highway you will be fine. Wish I had gone with a 60 in the front to start with instead of spending all my money building one now after the fortune I spent on the 44. I personally wouldn't leave the front but if you do you will need to do some major reinforcement to the frame (I use that term lightly) because it wasn't made to handle the added force.

ok first off 5.13s are awfully steep IMHO i would go with the 4.88s and if you was all about chevy wouldn't we be installing the corp14 never fail rear...just saying

thanks for your help guys. Yes the jeep is automatic and it will be highway driven so from what im gathering the 4.88's are the way to go?

Yes the corp.14 is an awesome rear end but i think it might be a little overkill for my build... and the fact that the pumpkin in so big is what makes me lean to a 60. If i use a 14bolt i will have to shave the pumpkin since im only planning to run 37s for now. but if i feel like picking up a 14 bolt down the line they are pretty much dime a dozen.

again thanks for your help guys, and any other imput would be great.

If I were running 37's I'd want 5.30's in the diffs.
I'm running 33's and 4.56's now. I daily drive and was doing a 440 mile round trip every week for a year.
