gallons to the mile
Another question about my 2001 Cherokee Sport. It's all stock with no mods. Gas mileage I check it and I'm getting about 14-16 miles to the gallon.I have the 4.0 striaght 6 in it. I know they don't get great mileage but I was expecting better than that. Any suggestions on what I might do to improve my mileage. I've done all the obvious stuff like injector cleaner, better plugs and wires,K&N air filter, ect. I was thinking about new exhaust.

If its over 60k miles you should look into getting new o2 sensors. It'll cost you though since its an 01 there is 4 sensors

My 1998 XJ in stock form was returning 16-18 around town and 19-21 hwy. I just had a 2.5" lift, 30" tires installed and this week adding a rear bumper/tire swing, as well as a front bumper with receiver hitch. I just filled up after the lift and tires were installed so have not figured mpg since the mods. Hopefully I will not loose much if any at all.

I am getting a solid and consitent 20 mpg for combined country and highway driving.
The truck is all stock and has 48K miles on it with a fresh tune-up. Pulling a trailer though it drops to 16.

Ethanol free gas! Even after doing an injector swap on my 01 I watched the mileage steadily decline from an average of 20 mpg highway (which is the factory estimated mileage) to a poor 16. On average I lost 1/2 mpg every two months and when it got down to 16 I knew something had to be done. Filled up with enthanol free gas and a the went to 21.5 with the first tank and has averaged back out to 20 where it should be. Every tank of ethanol free stays in the 19-20 range. If I can not get to my regular gas station and have to by gas with ethanol the mileage will drop to 17-18 on the first tank, the second will drop back to 16-17. Ethanol free cost an average of 20 to 25 cents more per gallon but when I do the math regarding the fuel mileage vs fuel cost I actually spend $10-15 less each week on ethanol free gas.
