Default Fuse keeps popping

Hello forum.

I would love some help on this if you can.

My 20a hazard fuse under the hood keeps popping, and I would love some help narrowing down the short.

If the breaks are pressed the left/right turn signals and the hazards work IF the head lamps are off but as soon as the headlamps are on the turn signals and hazards stop working if the breaks are activated.
There is a burning smell (I don't know where it is coming from) and the fuse pops.

I have checked all the wiring that I can think of and no shorts (as far as I can tell)

What else should I check?

Thanks.

Yes but I have it disconnected since it was giving me issues when I first got the jeep last march.

Barring any PO electrical engineering design changes either the connector at the headlight switch or the switch itself is FUBAR.

I did go over a speed bump a little too quickly today which could be a coincidence.

I have determined the burning smell is coming from inside the jeep somewhere in the dash.

This pull switch takes about 20 minutes.

How can I make sure it is the head lamp switch?

When the headlamps are on there is no smell but burning smell when the blinkers come on with the breaklights.

Your pulling it to see if plugs melted. Might wanna check flasher in fuse box and brake light switch also.

Here's a write up on the headlight switch:
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/replacing-headlight-switch-162647/
And you can just Google "Jeep Cherokee Brake Light Switch" and get some good pictures of location and what to look for.

Problem has been fixed.

I checked the break switch and headlamp switch and all was good there so I pulled the wire harness at the front under the hood that powers the blinkers, headlamps etc up to have a look. The harness and wire looked good but just to check I started her up and no fuse popped and no smell of burning.

I am thinking there is a crack in the wire somewhere and the simple act of me moving it stopped it grounding out so I have zip tied it up so it cannot fall down and touch the body.

Thanks for your help :-)
