Default Fuel pump issue..

98 Cherokee...Is there another ground for the fuel pump besides the one behind the spare tire mount? And would a new fuel pump turn on if I just plugged it up to test it? It doesn't appear that the pump would need to be mounted to kick on? Fuel pump is not kicking on all. Got power to the pigtail....one constant another shortly after key is on. Plugged up the new pump to test it and it doesn't kick on either.???

The FSM will have a wiring diagram (with wire colors which is helpful). Did you check cruiser54.com?

Also you could trace the ground wire off the pump harness and see if you can find a break.
The pump should kick on when powered - I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure it's as simple as power and ground and it should pump. I'd make sure it has gas to pump though since it cools itself via the gas running through it.
