Default Fuel pump check valve problem

Based on the information in other threads I think I have a bad fuel pump check valve. I've performed the "poor man's prime" and I think I have confirmed my suspesions. The problem is I can't seem to find the fuel pump check valve is to replace it. where exactly is the fuel pump check valve located? Pictures would be great. I have a 1994 cherokee sport 2wd.

Also, I'm not even sure if I bought the right part to replace it with. This is a link to the part that I purchased:

Thank you in advance.

The check valve is in the fuel pump assembly. Its time to replace the pump when one part goes. Not to hard on a 94 as the sending unit assy comes out without removing the tank. I suggest replacing the whole assy to prevent reoccuring problems.

Really? I thought that I read on here that older XJ's you didn't have to mess with the pump, just replace this valve? https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/fue...k-valve-21921/

Please read that thread and tell me what you think.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

So the original check valve is inside of the fuel pump?

You can add an external check valve for your vintage, but as it's not an ideal design, I'd recommend just replacing the entire fuel pump. Not that difficult or expensive on a 94.

I recommend Bosh or Carter pumps I will not recommend or install Airtex fuel pumps.

Good luck.
