My plan is a 24" inch steel dowel & a 4 pound sledge........

That's kinda how we did the mod to the Eagle Premiers!!!

We did monitor our progress with a meter. We weren't total hacks.

so wait.. i'm lost. haha. i'm having basically the same problem, and sorry 'randall L' for hoping on your post, but mine will fire up, idle for about 15 - 20 sec, then act like it's choking out... almost like it's running out of gas.. i'm thinking fuel issue, but everything i read says cps. I'm a pretty good mechanic, BUT I'M NOT SURE HOW TOO REALLY TEST THE CPS??? And I haven't had the chance too test fuel pressure yet, mainly cause i cant afford a gauge, but I'm tryin too do everything around that too pretty much kill all options.. But any input?? please.. this heep has been giving me problem after problem.. thanx guys

On the driver's side fender area is a fuel pump ballast resistor. The fuel pump gets 12v to it on starting. Upon returning to RUN, the fuel pump voltage is reduced to about 10v through the resistor. If the resistor is bad, you can get the exact symptoms you describe.
