I have a 1988 Cherokee, stock I-6 4.0, has cold air, header, no cat, and a straight through magnaflow muffler. AW4, 231, Dana 44's, 5.38's and 37's. I have heard that people have used 19lb yellow Ford injectors and have also heard that people use early to mid 2000 Dodge Neon injectors. I need a better more efficient injector. What have you guys used or heard? Thanks Ryan

Hello. When I started selling injectors to make a little side money I figured I better run them in my own Jeep and see what they do so I can know what I'm talking about. So far I've run all the most common "upgrade" ones plus a few others. I generally run the same 300 mile course on weekends. If anything odd happens or I get really out of line results I'll do it again with the same injectors to be sure. Anyway....
I've found any of the more common upgrade injectors are much better than stock XJ ones in all areas. You'll get a smoother running engine, quicker throttle response and a bit higher MPG. Now I know some will say this or that injector puts out this or that flow or you need this or that fuel pressure regulator for them to work but my own (I'll admit far from scientifically perfect) tests have resulted in me getting pretty much the same performance/MPG with them all. And changing the FPR (fuel pressure regulator) with the Ford "yellow stick" 710's from the 39psi to the 49psi one didn't really change much. Again not for my XJ at least. Although I did lose some City MPG with the 49psi FPR. I got the best MPG Highway with the EV1.3 Neon injectors which look exactly like stock XJ injectors but have 4 holes closely spaced together.

Thanks for the input guys.

my mpg stayed about the same (maybe lost .5) but runs, idles and accelerates ALOT smoother with 703s. the purpose for me doing it was i wanted 17 mpg....oh well i guess.
Does the injector have the part number stamped on it ending in 703?

So between options one and two on the chart, what is the duty cycle % on the injectors in each option. It says in option 2 that there is less spare injector capacity. What is the # on the stock Jeep injector for an 88 cherokee.

Been searching the forums and maybe I'm blind, but has anyone done a writeup on swapping out injectors on a 2000 XJ sport with the 4.0? Pictures would be nice. Just don't want my jeep bursting into flame....especially with me in it. Managed to snag a set of 8 #19 5.0L Mustang orange tops with 3000 miles on ebay for $30 and wanna put em to use. Thanks in advance!

i have the 703's in my 89..... idle, acceleration, and everything is much smoother... i would highly recommend them. I found mine in a junkyard out of some dodge stratus's .... i never actually found any 703's in a dodge neon haha.. i picked 8 up for a little over 35 bucks. Had them for over 10,000 miles, and i love them.
