Question Fuel injector swap/upgrade

So, I'm beginning a ring job on my Renix 4.0. I get my manifolds off and notice that I have 3 different injectors in there... 4 are the same and look pretty good, the other two are slightly different from the rest and don't look as good.

My question is, what is the community's opinion as to the best injectors for a stock Renix? Does anyone have any info on junkyard parts candidates? I remember seeing a thread about junkyard injectors but I can't seem to find it.

Hello. There are actually a LOT of injectors you can use if you only wish to swap in replacements. But if your desire is to swap and "upgrade" to a more efficient one at the same time there are only a few options. The main being the 703 "Neon" injectors or failing to find those you can use the newer 784 Neon ones with adapters to make them plug into your harness. I'm curious what you have in there though since you say 4 look pretty good. Maybe you only need to upgrade the 2 bad ones

If I can get better performance out of those, and get them at the jy, I'd certainly love to do that. I just really want a well working, matching set. And would really love to avoid buying new ones at the parts store. I had never priced them until today. My jaw dropped... I thought they'd be no more than $100 for a full set.

Thanks for the info! I'll post back tomorrow what the three types were.

Alternatively if you want a re-manufactured flow-matched set there are many sellers on e-bay that have them. Most of these come from 80s-90s Ford vehicles (5.0L V8, 3.8L V6, etc.), they are the same style, connector, and flow rate as the Jeep injectors but are 4-hole vs. the 1-hole OE injectors allowing for better fuel-atomization (and a claimed increase in throttle response).

Here are some examples:

One finger typing here, 746s are a step up from 703s ,smoother idle and a noticeable mpg change.

Didn't you and Flintstone do the Volvo injectors with good results?

+1 on the 746 Volvo injectors. I used those and am amazed at how smooth that tractor engine runs now.

Are the Volvo 746s a direct plug-in swap for a '95 XJ?

You're saying if 703s fit a '95 (they do) the Volvo 746s will too?
Is that without changing the pressure or anything?
