I replaced the fuel pump and everything works! No more hiccups!

Well, after another 1000 miles the problem seems to be back :S:S

I've used only V-power ever since. Never let the tank go under 25%. And since last night (tank 60% full) the problem is back. It starts to hiccup again...

What did the pickup strainer look like? Did you replace it?

You mean the "sock"? Yep I replaced that too.

Tomorrow I will drop the fuel tank and clean it out. I want to check the entire fuel system, starting there.

Maybe you have a dirty fuel tank and its clogging your filter. Using the v power instead of regular might have mixed things up in your tank.

dirty tank
my tank was rusty inside halfway up.dropped my tank even tho you should not have to,1988,but glad i did.opted for new tank instead of getting it cleaned.new filter and pump.running great.i think i feel better not having to wonder whats in the tank.might still have alot of crap in tank.just sayin, maybe.

filter stuff

old rusty

this is what i found when i emptied tank.then reached inside and it was very rusty on upper half.

new tank came pre-dented so i didnt have to worry about being the first!

Unfortunately my tank is full. How can I best get the fuel out of there? Can I unplug one of the hoses of the fuel pump and turn the key?

When you turn the key on, the pump only runs for a second to prime the system, and doesn't turn on again until the engine is running.

Siphon kit and some gas cans would be your best bet.

I have also cleaned the tank and the injectors, but to no avail. The tank was a bit rusty, but not all that bad.

So now I have:
-replaced the fuel filter
-replaced the fuel pump
-cleaned the tank
-cleaned the injectors
-replaced the O2 sensors

But I still get hiccups. Just stuttering as from time to time the engine doesn't receive any fuel for a second or so.

Other things I have noticed:
-fuel pressure is gone overnight at the fuel rail
-when I unscrew the fuel refill cap, it sucks air

I am clueless of what to do next. Could it be one of the sensors? IAC? TPS? CPS? Or the check valve? Or the fuel pressure regulator? I also have an OBD scanner whick I haven't used yet. Can I diagnose the sensors better with it than with the ignition key method? What should I do next?
