Default what to do for my gas tank?

i am going to build a very small rear bumper to give me a lot of clearance in the rear of my jeep. after i did the cut and fold i realized that there really isnt much hanging down except my gas tank.

i would get a gas tank skid but that will only make it hang down further... have any of you guys ever swapped in a fuel cell? they can be had for under 100 bucks and i have room for one i am just a little afraid of the install.

do u guys think the extra clearance would be worth it?

if not post some pics up of your gas tank skid setup so i can get some ideas.

Yeah, I think you would be better off with a cell. you have plenty of room, and I know it can be done. You were talking about putting it in the back, right?? I don't have any info on the swap, but the market has just about every pressure, and fedd system covered, so I don't see much issue with it. It would give you a grip of room under your rig...HMMM, on board air tank perhaps?? Oh, sorry, this is your rig, I'll let you build it!! LOL!!

actually i just read up a lot on fuel cells and i dont think i want one anymore.

what do u guys think about this idea.

ill get a stock plastic tank from a newer cherokee and cut a hole in the floor above where it mounts and raise it till it sits just above the "frame" rails. then i will make a flat skid to go underneath it that will also act to stiffen the frame.

for the topside i can just build a box out of sheetmetal to cover it.
