OK guys i need some info. My 94 Country has the cloth seats and are in great shape. One thing that bugs me is that they are apparently reclined backwards a bit, but will not recline forward any more than say 30 degrees. That of course is an estimate. It makes me feel like im laying down to drive, although i do have plenty of room and everything is easily reachable. My son's 96 Country has the leather and will sit up much straighter than my current XJ. Any ideas on this? I do know i dont have those rocker brackets on the front seats as i have read in past threads.

your seat should come forward more than that.

im almost sure you can move the gear for the recliner if you take the seatbottom apart so take it apart and set it where you want

My '93 Sport with cloth seats had the same issue, which is one reason why it was sold to me for $500... The driver's seat kept reclining back, further and further, until it was almost at a 45 degree angle. I bought it, drove it home in a very uncomfortable position, then sat in the back seat, braced my knees against it, and pushed like mad. Whaddaya know, it went back in its full upright and locked position!

I've owned it for a year now, and every 3-4 months I notice it starting to recline again, so I do the same thing. At some point it will probably break, but for now it works. I plan on hitting the junkyards and getting a replacement some day...
