I've got an opportunity to pick up a 1999 Cherokee sport needs front end gone through. Was told it gets a wobble at 35-40 mph so I'm guessing wheel bearings, track bar, bushing, and possibly suspension needs some work.

What am I in for if the unibody and such is in decent shape?

Is he selling it because he can't figure out th e death wobble? Also how much? You can probably tack ball joints and may as well do joints while you're at it and tres

No it is an extra vehicle that he rarely uses and doesnt want to put any money into. He took it in as the tires are shot (31x10.5x15) and it has the wobble (death wobble after doing some research may be an easy fix). Also has a 3" lift that I am wondering if that is the cause of the issues.

Said the wheel bearings and track bar needed done but I'm suspecting there is more to it. He is asking $1100 OBO I'm hoping to talk him down to $800.

The wheel bearings look pretty easy and about $250 for the pair of Timkins and then I might upgrade the Suspension and steering components while I'm at it then take it in for an alignment and fresh tires.

The body, motor, transmission and all else have 166k on them so that is part of my quandry is if investing a bit of money I could make a decent daily driver that would be fund off road as well.

If you can do the work yourself it's probably a good deal. The tires may also be part of what is causing dw.

Yeah wheel bearing should be easy enough, never attempted the other stuff so some research may be in order. I'd like to keep the total of the Cherokee and upgrades under 5k which if I shop right I think I can do.

Looking at Rustys Off-Road the following should take care of most things other than the wheel bearings which I will purchase locally. Only thing I may need to watch is the steering and driveshaft angles with the lift kit.

If it already has a 3in on it I'd wheel I t like that and see what you need to do rather than dump almost 2k into a rusty's lift.

Yeah I'm mostly running numbers, I'm waiting to hear back on what kind of lift was done and how. As for the rustys that includes rims and tires while the rims night not be needed I'll need tires for sure. Hopefully tomorrow I'll know a bit more.
