Front End Trouble in my 91 Jeep Cherokee!
I have a horrible wobble in my steering wheel when i go into a turn and I have checked ball joints and tie rod ends I can't see anything wrong with them also when ever I turn to the left I hear and feel a click under my feet? This is my first Jeep I have owned Ford all my life I love my Jeep and want to keep it going!
Do you have the equipment to check for ANY play in front end pieces? If you were just eyeballing it, I would say take it to a front end specialist so they can rack it. Otherwise, I would look at your CV joints for the clicking noise.
I bet your front u-joints are bound up. The ones located at the tire-end of the front axle shafts. I bet you'll find rust around the caps.....
It's amazing how they can make the front end jump around when they can't swivel any longer.
Have someone turn the wheel while you watch each link in the steering and front suspension. Something will probably jump a bit when you hear the tick. Then again, could very well be the u-joints too.
