No, they do have a point about that inner flange. My shop told me the same thing.

I guess I'll just switch out the ujoints myself, and hope that the flange is fine. If not, I'll just order that too. I'll save myself $125 (at least), and the only thing is... it won't get balanced.

I always think things are going to go simply, until I start digging in. Then there are always extras that need to be done. Such a pain!

My shop told me balancing was not included in the U-joint service. Balancing would have been another $40.00.

If your shop was including removal and install of shaft, quality parts, service, balancing, and tax in your price--it seems like a decent deal for a turnkey job. They've got to make a profit to pay their bills and stay open.

Yeah, that's fine but it doesn't include R & R, U-joints, yokes, or balancing.

Interesting thread, I just swapped in new axles under my 01' and I've got some vibrations going on. I went from LP to HP D30. So my drive line is deffinatly different & I never replaced the U joints in the front DS. What's the big deal with replacing them yourself? I've done all my own work up to now (except gears & air locker installs). If it'll cost me $200+/- for it rebuilt, I'd be better off getting a front DS from Tatton for the same price or cheaper.

Don't mean to high jack, but really interested...

Yeah, a little bit of a high jack there, but it's all good.

That is what i was thinking though. I could spend another $150-$200, and get an upgraded drive shaft with all the fixings with that amount of money. I mine as well just go at it myself and see what happens.

Also, who is this Tatton you speak of?

Tatton driveshafts. "The Jeep Hut" turned me on to them when I bought my SYE. I can't find them in the net, but you can track down a phone number & he'll ship the DS to your door. He will need some dimensions from you though. M

My rear DS when it arrived arrived:

If that has all new components and was $90.00 shipped, it was a bargain.

I stand corrected.

Tatton's Driveline makes great shafts and they are heavy duty. Fast service.
Located in Salt Lake City. Curtis Tatton's store is on ebay. Adam's Driveshaft is the other e-bay seller.
