Front Driveshaft

I messed up my front drives haft this weekend. I called the local jy and they wanted 50$. I paid 50 for my whole front axle. Anybody know of a better drive shaft or where I can get a shaft for cheaper then 50. I dont want to pay 50 for a old used shaft that isn't much better than the one I just damaged.
I have a 99 xj. Auto with the turdy thirty up front. Just fyi

in the cv joint that is the ball socket. I guess it is called. The joint in the middle is cracked in a few places and it was making such a loud noise and rattiling that I honestly thought my something in my front diff went out.

The part that you broke is called the centering yoke from your description. They are more than $50.00 so head to the JY. Here $50.00 for a cv saft is a deal and a half
same thing happened to me...i tokk mine out and im gonna need a new one too
