So i called all the major and minor auto parts store within a 20 min radius of me and no-one stocks or can get the front diff. gasket(d30).. Is this a dealer only part or do i just live to far in the middle of bumble f*** to get this part?
EDIT: When I call, i ask for a front Diff/Pumpkin gasket for a 2000 Jeep Cherokeee sport with the 4.0L, should i just ask for a D30 Gasket instead?

The XJs all had a D30 up front for each year correct? So i could go in and throw a random year and see if it goes? Or just ask for a D30 Gasket? I kind of figured it was just the shops around my hometown but i even called an autozone in Erie(where i am now) and they gave the same response and added to talk to a dealer.
Same problem, no gasket avail for a 96. went to the dealer and walked out with black silicone, thats what they use now I guess, (it was actaully cheaper that the permatex at adavance, price wise I mean.)
No leaks yet, its all in the prep and cure time.
I'm sure there is a gasket out there for it somewhere, but I got real tired of looking, and the silicone is working fine for me.

I have a mechainc friend at the jeep dealership near me and when I asked about changing the diff fluid in rear of my 96 cherokee, he said they don't use gaskets anymore. He gave me a tube of a gray rtv sealant the shop uses. As stated above, clean both surfaces with parts cleaner and apply the RTV to the cover. Don't overtighten the bolts. The RTV tube should say what the curing time is.
