Default Front Bumper

So ive been in the process of making a front bumper since im in welding shop ill be doing most of it in there. The top is going to be covered with steel diamond plate and so are the sides. Let me know what you think. I will also be bending some tubing to make a light bar to go on the bumper. The whole thing is going to be painted black.

Thanks for the replies,it sticks out 4 inches i think. This is what im going for, another question. Bumpers they sell on ebay and all that, how much do they weigh? My dad is thinking with the steel diamond plate i will be putting to much weight on the front end.

The steel is quater inch i think, and it ties in by those bars that come off the back of it and then there is a whole drilled in it that mounts to one of the orginal holes and then i will probally weld it on to the truck or find another way to mount it

so its really not thick at all, and it mounts like crap.

looking past the thickness, you should tie it into the rear most bolt hole in the front uniframe (just past the swaybar link) and the steering box bolts on the driver's side.

Yeah, looks like it kills your approach angle. But if you don't care about that its lookin good! Not to hijack the thread, but I'm wanting to build a front bumper and I'm wondering what makes the ARB and others "air bag compatable"? I want mine to be "air bag compatable" too. And is it possible to wire in a switch to shut off the airbags so I could ram stuff and not get a facefull of airbag?

an aftermarket bumper wont make your airbags not function correctly. the only thing different about ARB is that it has crumple zones.

you need to find out where the sensor for the airbags is installed and if it was on the bumper than reinstall it on yours with a cutoff switch, toyota has them on their 4x4's for angles when 4bying.

I would have to do some research to get a cutout switch figured out, becasue I'm assuming if I cut the wrong wire BOOM! the air bags go off! I guess I wouldn't have to worry about it then.
