front axle wont engage
So i swaped my np 207 that didnt work cuz of the chain.... i swaped it for the 242 and everything went pretty good other than it was a pain in the *** i figured out a way to hook back up my speedometer and got a drive line hooked up and all that good stuff.... but when it is in 4 wheel drive you can see that the front drive line is being torqued on but no power to the tires is this due to the locker thing on the 1986 command trac? if so how to i fix this or rig it to make my 4x4 work??????

Its because the np207 has a vacuum switch and the 242 doesnt, since u dont have that switch the front axle disconnect wont engage, so you can do a few things, you can get the posi lock kit or you can swap out the two piece axle with a 91 and up one piece axle shaft. In the mean time if you need 4 wheel you can always just pull the axle shift fork from the axle and manually shift over to lock it

don't waste your money on that kit. i've had 2 of them for the same jeep. never worked like it should. huge pita on the trail when you're pulling it apart to just manually lock it in place.
i ended up just using a gear clamp up against the shift collar to hold it locked into place. that 60 cent gear clamp worked a lot better than that 200 dollar cable.
take that money and replace the whole axle with one from an abs equipped jeep. you will get the solid one piece shaft with the larger 297 joints.

Pain to rig it is a vacuum in and vacuum out (be easer if it were spring loaded) might be able to get the factory style switch and rig something up
