Default Front axle input bearing

I think the bearing is bad behind my yoke of my front axle. If I pull out the internals and replace it, do I have to re-do the gears or can i just be careful and put it back together and assume the shims are right?

Paint-mark the pinion nut before removing it. That way you can just re-align the marks after it's torqued. If your back-lash was still within specs before, you should be good to go.

make sure to mark the shims so that they go back into the same place very important they should be pressed in behind the bearings but not always but if they go back in the same spot you should be ok

sorry to differ with the rest but if you install new bearings
you will need to re do the gear setup
its not like you are removing every thing to add a locker and putting every thing back the same
new bearings will be different and need different shims

you my get lucky and the same setup will work

My statement comes from something I had read. If it was in fact incorrect, I hereby apologize for the misinformation.

thats the key you need to be capable of checking the gear setup
it could be good but if it to tight or way loose it can cause future problems
