front axle info needed
Hi there. New to jeeps but not to professional mechanics. My 1996 Cherokee is leaking oil out of the Pass side front axle tube. I plan on changing axle u-joints anyhow ,but...do I have any seal or bearing at the outer end of the tube? I know it has inner seals and have the Chrysler number 4874477 for them. I looked at the diagram on quadratrac's site but it shows an array of years and parts for intermediate or outer parts. Want to tear into it on my day off (mechanics never have the day off...just a day to fix their own stuff) but need not down the truck. Thought about fabbing a nylon bushing to keep junk out and the axle supported. any thoughts or advice? Help!

Just has the inners.
You don't have to fab anything http://www.quadratec.com/products/52420_900X_PG.htm

Thanks! I don't mind ripping things apart but like to have stuff needed in hand,Daily driver. Those are cool seals but I think I can duplicate them for just a little lathe time.

I went HD and bought a foot of the heavy rubber shower pan liner (plumbing aisle), cut circles out of it, cut a cross in the middle, and slipped them on. Still holding.
