Default Front axle identification- amateur

I've looked at some previous posts but still not sure which front axle I have. Is this a Chrysler 8.25 on my 96 XJ?

All front axles were Dana 30. The style of it depends on the year. 96 iirc was either HP or LP. Someone can Chime in to correct me on that last part

Maybe it's the lighting but it looks like the Dana 35. Pic courtesy of someone here...

96 front = hi-pinion, non-vac dana 30

if you are curious about the rear, it could be a dana 35 or a chry 8.25 with either 27 or 29 spline shafts

Last year I used that excellent post showing all the different ones that were in the XJ's for the most part. Also too find out what I had and how many spline axles were in them in another post.

That is if they are stock, in another here you can plug in your vin# and find out a lot of info on your XJ even the gear ratio.

I ordered a u-joint for a D30 and its to big. I went back today and the parts shop told me that model cherokee had four different u-joints listed. I tossed the old one before getting a new one and obviously should have taken it with me to match up.

Thanks. Matched one to the retaining clip on the yoke and works great. No vibration like we did have with the old one. I've attached a photo with the new 1.75 inch raised front after having to install new rear leaf springs.
