Correct me if I'm wrong but the D30 in your 2000 is a low pinion. If I were you I'd pick one up from a 99 or older that way you have a high pinion front axle, I believe it's 30% stronger? I just picked one up last week out of a 99.

Depending on what deal you would get at a JY. But then again....that axle could use some new ball joints and seals...... Write it out on paper and see bow much you would save.

Talk to the guys at the local JY and see if you can swap axles. If you can get your mitts on a HP D30 then go for it. Either way it seems to me like you need to dump some cash in the current one so if you can do an even trade, go for it. Just make sure the gear ratio is the same.
