Default Free shocks!

I got two free brand new 12" travel pro comp es9000's today. But, they are meant for a '05 1500 Chevy truck Rear. Looks like I'm going to be cutting and welding new ends on so they fit my rear! HAHAHA I will find a way to use these shocks I don't think they are that much different really.

I would use them on Ebay and then use the funds to purchase shocks that need no modification.

just make a mounting bracket to fit them to the jeep. an adapter....or cut and weld but remember to pulse weld around then finish.

Dunno how much lift you have but 12" of travel may be to much with say 4-5" of lift.

That is a good idea but I would rather try then have to deal with ebay and selling period I try to stay away from internet selling (very stressful in my opinion). But i'll buy it is alot less stress!

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing. But the more I look at them the more I think I can use my bar pin brackets and some bushings with a smaller bolt hole and the may just work with out any mods! Really! Here is a pic from a site not mine my camera is charging right now. The Eyes are 1.5" from the outside. I think If I get some new bushings for a XJ shock I can just put them right in.

I'll have 7"-7.5" but i wanted to try some revolver shackles in the back sooner or later and see how much articulation I can get. Maybe right now it's just one thing at a time.

Man is that yours? How big are those shocks? If you have the shocks mounted like that what is the point? I just don't understand I'm not flaming I would just figure that the would still work like any other shocks just big and mounted high. I mean you would want the shocks to be as close to the floor as possible so when it flexes they stretch out longer, right? Or I'm I missing something.

The longer the shocks the more articulation you CAN have. If you have revolver shackles and they drop your axle 8 inches beyond what your normal springs can you could have 18+ inches of travel but if you only have 12 inch shocks you can only drop 12 inches... By mounting the shocks in the cab (like the picture) you lose some of the down travel but you gain tremendous up travel.

Ok I understand that longer shocks mean more drop, Right. Now what are the uses of high Up travel? Like what kind of terrain or use?

Well yea if you mount them regular but he was saying to mount them up in the cab like in that pic to get more up travel. Well I wanted to know why I would want more up travel? I as of now have no need to mount them like that cause I do not even know why I would want up travel!?!?!

I just measured them and compressed they are 17 3/4" from the very top of the mounts to the bottom mount. So I think they will fit and for free I will be very happy. I'll just have to find the ones for the front cause I can't handle having mismatched shocks some things I will mismatch but not shocks or tires stuff like that.

OK one more question has anyone used these front shock brackets yet? Here is are the details and a pick.

Many shock manufacturers simply do not build a stud-style shock in long enough lengths to accommodate high travel after-market lift kits; however, they do in the more popular EB1 mount style. These "Shock Conversions" are a simple bolt on item that will allow you to use any EB1 shock. They reduce the static ride height of the shock by 1.10 inches which translates into 1.10 inches more droop for your suspension.

If so which shocks do you use with them? I Think they are a good idea and would save on shocks and easier to replace them. Also has anyone dealt with Mako off road products before?

Free is good. Also as far as that mounting style goes I think that is more for prerunner setups. I saw that on a different forum. IDK.... Free is always good. As far as those mounts go. I don't think that they could be to bad. they are very simple. Almost to simple really. Depending on the price you could probably build them for next to nothing. Looks like a decent mod though.
