Default Fog Light wire questions

I am new to the Forum and super glad to find a home here. Took me long enough to make an account!
Anyways, I was under the front recently and found I had the fog light harnesses installed, which is cool because I didn't even know they were there. I was planning to install fog lights in them but I am unsure if the harnesses are even connected to any sort of relay or anything (I don't know much about wiring). I am hoping that it will be an easy thing to do. Would the wires come with the Jeep and not be installed fully? And as for the actual fog lamp switch in the middle console, would I need anything other than the switch? How do I take the plastic piece off so I can fit the switch in? Once again I am not inclined with wires and switches so any sort of help would be awesome.

Sorry still figuring this out! It's an 01 sport. I plan to give it more time after school.

Be sure you check the ends of it. I turned on my fog lights when I first got my jeep and it burned my wire harness to the lights. What a mess it made. The positive was touching ground and started the melt-down.

As far as it actually being connected, will I just have to look to see if it's hooked to a breaker/ resistor? I've had this jeep a while but now I have time/money I can spend to baby it a little more.

If you are talking about the single plug terminating at the front crossmember, that is for the temperature sensor for an overhead console, if you have 2 plugs facing the rear of vehicle 1 above each stock fog light mounting point then you have the wires for the fog lights and you may have to dig around behind the dash to find the end that goes to the switch, make sure there is a fuse in the correct slot in the fuse box under the hood. The switch itself is easy just make sure the plug is securely fastened to the switch before mounting the switch in the panel, not a big deal just much easier than having to remove the panel to plug in the switch.

Thanks. I will go to the junkyard to see if I can get the switch. Order it if I have to.

they all came pre wired.
just go to the junkyard and pull the switch panel with the fog switch and grab the fog lights with brackets and go home and bolt them up.
plug the relay in the PDC and bobs your uncle.

Default fog lights

I have a 1998 Cherokee sport. It did not come with fog lights. But the wiring was in place with the connectors where the fog lights are supposed to go. I cut out the slot in the dash and install a switch. All good so far. When I went to the PDC and inserted a relay I realized there was nothing in the PDC for a fog light relay. Just the open slots in the plastic cover without the metal connectors below. I thought I had a home run. Anyone have a suggestion?

I did a write up on putting factory fogs in an '00 XJ that did not come with them. Mine did not have the connectors off the front harness for the fog lights like yours does. Maybe this will answer some of your questions.

I came across these after I bought mine and did the write up.
