You're gonna need an air ratchet. Ive never been able to get one off without one. Not saying it isn't possible, I've just never seen it done.

He is trying to torq it, not get it out

So I did this a few months ago with the help from someone else, but I have no idea the terms I need to explain it to you lol.

You can get a large socket on the end of the flywheel, or somewhere towards the engine, to spin the flywheel and access all the bolts, so you can also hold the torque converter/flexplate by holding it in place with the above method. Just make sure you have the battery unhooked, because there is maybe a slim chance of turning the engine over while rotating things. Not sure if that is true, but why risk it right?

Oh yeah, I hope I'm talking about the right thing lol

105 ft/lbs is for flywheel/flexplate to crank. You're tightening flexplate to torque converter which is a MUCH lower torque. OOOOPS!

NICE CATCH CRUISER! 737, I seem to remember you can fit something holding against a tooth on the ring gear. Might have used a large deep-well socket to jamb it.

What the hell am I thinking of in my above post? All I did was put a large socket on the end of something by the flywheel towards the engine, and it held everything in place and I could turn the whole engine over and spin the plate. Was really easy and didnt involve binding anything up lol

3/4" socket with a breaker bar on the balancer bolt. Works fine.

So does a screwdriver in the ring gear teeth. But that's if you're torquing to the proper spec and not trying to torque the bolts to 110 foot pounds!!!

Bummer. Sorry to hear that. Cruiser was correct as usual, 105. Guess you'll know where to look. Let us know what happens if it comes loose and you hit 14,000 RPM! (or maybe the PCU would govern it?)

I put my jeep in gear. It was enough to get my torque converter bolts in to proper torque. turn the key on ( dont start), and put it in gear, then turn the key back off. This is what I did when i replaced my flex plate and it went smooth and no issues.
