I need floor plugs for the holes under the rear seat in my '99. Anyone have an idea what the part number or a suitable replacement might be?
They are oval, about 1" x 1-3/16. Maybe 30mm x 25mm?

When I pulled the carpet and bed lined my 99 I used these. They worked great. http://www.ebay.com/itm/16-Body-Floor-Drain-Plugs-Fit-Jeep-CJ5-CJ7-CJ8-Scrambler-Wrangler-YJ-Cherokee-XJ-/231129900143?hash=item35d06a646f

The holes in question are oval and one is directly over the muffler. Would the plugs you suggested be pliable enough for an oval hole AND hold up to the muffler heat?

What happened to the original plugs - rot away?
I looked in the 97-99 catalog and couldn't find the plugs. I know which ones you mean but I think they may be made from Unobtainium.
If you have the carpet up you may have to fabricate 'covers' out of sheet metal and glue them in place with construction adhesive.

Just my opinion but I think all these holes are manufacturing related, not drains. It doesn't make sense to install all these random plugs that are only accessible after removing the carpet. Plus they are not even located where water pools up as many of us know based on where pans usually rust out. Just a random observation. I did my pans and didn't put them back. I suppose if you are a mud bogger or do a ton near the water you might add them back. But as designed you would have to strip the interior to get access. Not very practical.

Those plug holes, along with other access holes, are great for coating the insides of frame-rails with a fog wand and asphalt based undercoating.
