Ok i know i have the other thread that tells about my spring going through the floor, now it's time to fix it so i'm starting a new one.


First things first, does anyone have any idea where i can get a floor pan that goes to the cargo area at a relatively cheap price?

make it...18 gauge sheet metal from home depot. a vice and a welder or pop rivets and fiberglass bondo and paint.

i gotta say the cheap way is to build ur own. if its only patchin a hole and nothin structural then just find some scrap metal and bend it till it fits and weld it in. alot of guys use street signs for floor boards i personally use the sides of an old washing machine.

 

what gauge steel are washing machine sides? think I found my new source!

 

I'll probably end up making one myself i was just hoping someone knew about a good place i could get one.

 

junk yard wars... find one in realativly good condition cut 'er out and weld 'er in

you can buy the whole panel or the front or rear panel separate.

 

well with the shipping and all the whole floor was going to end up like 600 or something cause of where i live and shipping costs.

thanks i'm heading over to the junkyard this weekend in an attempt to find a good one.

 

I just put an all new floor in my jeep and I bought a 4X10 1/16" plate steel from a buddy for 50 bucks. I traced a pattern into cardboard and cut out of the steel. Spot weld as bending over the round parts. Took a few hours to put in after I had the floor removed. I also welded 1/4" X 6" plate steel reinforcements over the shock mounts. The time and labor involved to remove a floor pan from a JY vehicle, and still have it be in usable condition when your done. Keep in mind that there are a few hundred spot welds that you will need to drill out. You would be better off just buying a new one and having it shipped. I replaced the entire front floor pan on mine in my garage, remove and install time was around 50 hours. That was with a brand new factory pan, this dosn't include all the refitting of the seats and trim. If your making your own, keep in mind that your seats mount to it as well as the seat belts. These are two things you want to pay close attention to.
