Default Fix Unibody?

Today I got rear ended by a minivan. Thankfully everyone was okay. My trailer hitch took the brunt of the brunt of the force. It bent the unibody rails on both sides where the end of the hitch meets the unibody. It's crushed in about 2-3 inches on either side... It is also pretty rusty in there. Is this repairable? I'm a little nervous for when the insurance adjusters come. Thanks,

-Sean

If there is unibody damage they will most likely total it. Doesnt mean it cant be fixed for the right price but in some cases you are better off buying another XJ, they are pretty much a dime a dozen now.

Yep, a 24 year old vehicle with unibody damage will most likely be totaled by your insurance. You can then buy it back from the insurance company for a very cheap price, probably around $300-$500, and then build it for some serious trail use. Then use the rest of the settlement for another daily driver.

when my 93 grand cherokee got rear ended, the reciever took the hit and bent our unibody in the same way. it got totaled. start looking for your replacement now so you can settle and get the very small check they give you and put it towards another vehicle

:sigh: alright, sounds like it will be totaled, and I probably won't get much for it. How much does damage like this compromise the vehicle, were I to fix the electrical and all?

if the doors align right then it shouldn't really mess anything up but the back part. if you look at the door tops compared to the drip rail and they are not parallel then the cabin is bent also so it might give you alignment trouble or allow you to get hurt more if your rear ended again.

there is a guy on here with a nice looking white cherokee that got rear ended exactly the same way. he bought it that way though and has had zero trouble with it. might want to look for his jeep and ask him questions. i cannot think of his name though
