Default First Jeep, A/C question

Bought my first Jeep (98' Cherokee 4 door 4x4) yesterday and I'm going to have plenty of questions. Yes, I tried to search for an answer first.

The blower switch only works on 4, and I couldn't seem to get it to heat up (heater core might be done?) and I do not know if it's blowing cold yet because everything seems cold here right now. The selection switch seemed to work (switched to defrost and the different vents and such) so I'm guessing maybe the switch is bad? I haven't really worked on cars much since high school (8 years ago) and like I said this is my first Jeep so Im not aware of the typical problem areas.

Any help would be appreciated.

If it only works on 4 more then likely the resistor is bad. It is located under the passenger side dash in back on the glove box. Just climb under the dash and remove the little plastic cover then yo will see it. It's pretty easy to replace and not to expensive.

Ok, I just read a write up on replacing it. I wasn't sure if when it went bad, the switch wouldn't work at all, or if only certain settings would work.

It's pretty strait forward to replace. Poke your head under the glove box. There should be a plastic cover in back of the glove box with 3 or 4 little screws, remove those and remove the cover. You will see it right under the cover. remove the 2 screws holding the resistor and unplug the wire harness.
This is what it looks like.

BTW, Try back flushing the heater core and see if that help you get more heat.

Pull both hoses off from engine do not flush until you do . This prevents junk from going into motor causing other issues .
