I do, YJ lines are longer. When i did the rear, I figured I needed new front lines anyway, so I did all three. Why move/relocate OLD lines, when new ones are $20 each?Originally Posted by JackGTX440
Are people running yj hoses on the front? I put a yj hose on the rear. It was probably 3-4" longer I would guess.

not my setup, just for information purposes. I was wondering if I could just disconnect the sway bar links and not remove the entire swaybar? Originally Posted by Hommersimpson

yeah your fine disconnecting them, some guys like to disconnect them from the bottom and then hang them up somewhere
my end link snapped somehow while wheeling so i just disconnected the other one from the top and they've just been hanging, i've driven around for awhile now without sway bars and its not big deal just don't do any Tokyo drift stuff
EDIT: and leave the sway bar itself its a good tow point in my opinion lol

you left the links hanging??? nice, well that would be ideal, then when i need them reconnected just a couple turns of the wrench.Originally Posted by 96xj4x4

also is there a noticable difference between running connected and disconnected? any idea how much more flex I will get with a 4" lift and not killing my brake lines.....I know hard question, I guess the question is if it is worth it?

yup i just leave them hanging...i've disconnected and reconnected them a few times and i can def tell when they are off, but like i said, i like to think i drive a little on the fast side and as long as you take an easy going around corners you'll be fine, the longer you have them off the more you'll get used to it. as for better flex, i only have 3 inches of lift and my suspension flexes A LOT better with them off. when i try to flex with them on nothing really happens. i haven't had a problem with brake lines but my guess is that you will definitely want to take care of those before you go out.Originally Posted by 5502george

no problem bro....i can't tell you about the rears, i've never messed with mine. but when you ask if it's worth it over all i'd say it is. but like somebody said before, maybe fully flex it out at home before you go just to make sure your good with those brake lines.Originally Posted by 5502george

Take the rear sway bar and throw it in the garbage. It will make no difference in handling and will improve rear flex.

They dont look like discos but rather adjustable links. Remove the rear sway bar completely and trash. Front discos are available at carparts.com for RC brand for $43. Until you get discos then remove the links. My XJ is all over the road without the front connected so be very careful on road til you reconnect them.Originally Posted by Hommersimpson

5502george, you dont NEED new longer brakelines for a 4" lift. On the first page Buck mentioned straightening the bend carefully and reattaching the line. This will suffice until you need new lines anyway.
The issue with street travel without a front swaybar is that it could create a dangerous situation in an evasive action.. you wont have as much control over the vehicle as it'll create more body roll. If your just running down the road and not on a windy mountain pass ypou'll probably be ok.. it's a grey area.
Rear swaybar deletion is easier because you have more control with a leaf sprung design. The swaybar is there on a stock location to eliminate bodysway and a more luxurious ride.

i went out last weekend for the first time and removed my sway bar links. made a huge difference. the only thing that annoyed me was i had enough flex to completely stuff my tire into the fender well, which i have not trimmed, so my 31's rubbed anything and everything and made a horrible noise every time i flexed.
