Default First attempt Off road...should I remove swaybar?

Ok well this weekend Im going semi-serious wheelin and need to know what I should do to the Jeep to prep...

....Is a sway bar removal a must when doing trial rides (4" lift)

....are there any downsides to removing the sway bar links besides crashing on the payvment? for example if you over flex will it pull brake lines etc...

LOL and what do I remove? the sway bar links? or the entire swaybar setup?

you could damage the brake hoses if they arent long enough, you might want to flex it out in your drive way first as a dry run

Definitely remove the sway bar links (while off road only) and be careful of over extending the brake lines. You can remove the bolt that connects the hard line to the fender well where the flex line hooks in...and carefully straighten the hard line out. That gives you a little more length. Another cool trick is to get a set of OEM flex lines from a YJ Wrangler. They are longer than the OEM lines used on the XJ and they bolt right up. Usually can be had for next to nothing at a scrap yard.

if you did not replace brake lines... REPLACE THEM putting a 4 inch lift on and not replacing lines... was a complete waste of money...:} you have to replace the lines... or you will not get the flex your 4 inch can give you...I hear one of the newer xjs i think have 3 inch longer lines.. not sure what make model... but... brake lines are not alot of money.. :} kinda suck go 4 wheeling.. then rearend some one on way home because you have no brakes..

line = hose... sorry...

If you have never completely flexed out the suspension depending on what kinda mods you have done to your fenders it's possible to rub your fender flares or possibly rip them off.

I have 4 inches of lift and just relocated my brake lines down lower on the frame. At full flex and full lock on the steering I still have a slight amount of slack in the rubber line.

Never replaced brake lines before, just drain system, replace line and refill and bleed?

You keep the rear disco'd? How is the ride with just the rear disco?

....Ill prob get the same setup, but just want to see how much of a issue it would be if you had to slam the brakes or make a hard turn.

by the way how much for the front quick dico?

Are people running yj hoses on the front? I put a yj hose on the rear. It was probably 3-4" longer I would guess.
