Default FINALLY! let there be light!

so i finally had a day off from work to do this. i got a 40 amp relay, some wire, borrowed my dad's soldering iron (bought it for him for his birthday and im the first to use it ) and i got some solder and started wiring up my KCs. i used the existing wire from the bajas that was already in the engine bay but the switch was rated at 20 amps and the 130w KCs pulled 20-25 so i needed a relay. i wired up the relay, soldered everything, heat shrunk the connections and electrical taped up the relay and T-connections and i was done..but only one light worked and the other was about as bright as the bajas.

so i went down to advanced auto, picked up two 100w sylvanias (only $4 each, they didnt have 130w) and put them in. flipped the switch and holy hell! they were like spot lights! i cleaned up everything, did a tool count and drove my friend over to another friend's house to get some pizza. on the way, i flipped the switch after a stop sign and it lit up a house a good 900ft away as if it were day time. ill get some light pics tomorrow but for now, i shot some quick wiring pics while i had the hood open.

wires dont even look like theyre there.

to give you another idea, i had the negative battery terminal un-hooked with the switch on when i was eletrical taping the rest and i had 5 friends over, two of which were girls and some guys our age pulled up and started yelling "hey ladies! looking for a good time?" i didnt care since they werent my girls but it was the perfect opportunity anyways. i connected the terminal and the lights lit up and the guy covered his eyes and yelled "**** those ****ers are ****in bright!!" and drove off.

the hellas on the roof should be wired tomorrow and i plan on getting more 100w bulbs for those. the bajas on the back will be last.

im just glad i got some free time to finish the KCs and hopefully will get time to finish the hellas tomorrow..

Yes i am very electrically declined. I have searched for my fog light wires so i can install some i see the tabs in the bumper but I can't even find the wires. So a write up would be great I wouldn't know where to start with a relay and stuff. I have a pretty good electrical kit though, Blue point multimeter and heat gun for shrink rap jsut havnt took the time to learn it real well.

aircruiser... looking at your write up, the hellas upto do provide a bit more light. But since you have the outters and inners wired sperately have you thought about turning the outters a bit providing a wider angle of light. I had planned on doing this IF i wired up 4 lights. Mostly so that I could see animals hiding in the ditches before they jumped out infront of me. Just an idea to light up a bit more area.

yeah they werent aimed completely in those pictures. i plan on doing that though because the stock lights aint worth jack squat. driving on backroads at night isnt even a problem anymore. before even with the brights on, it was nerve racking because i couldnt see more than 200ft infront of me.

I gotta get either roof rack or a light bar...most likely a light bar I really don't need the rack...I do how ever need 4 lights up top...
