You can trim up to the holes in the fenders, to gain some cleanance while leaving the fenders in the stock position.
Or you can cut past the holes, move the fenders up more, redrill the holes and mount them higher and trim the fenders to match the body line

A lot of people will also ditch their stock fenders but will put YJ fenders back on.

So you will keep the fender look but they will not be stock fenders.

I trimmed mine and was able to use the the factory mounting set up by transferring the bolt pattern on the front flares higher up on the fender, after cutting the fender. The rear flares had to be screwed on- as you won't be able to access the back side to attach them after trimming the sheet metal. pm me with a reminder tomorrow, and i'll load some pics into my albums for you to look at. There are pics of the shields that i made to keep mud and garbage off of the hinges in my albums if you are not keeping the inner factory liners.

Tcountry, that looks good! Can you give us details on your lift, wheel and tire size please? How did you re-attach your flares?

Default fender trimming

I found the best thing is to use a smaller cutting wheel. I've seen tons of people use big cutting wheels and they destroy the fenders. I would put the fender flares back on but i like more mud
I cleaned my fenders really good and used a small tip dry erase marker and made my line where I wanted to cut and trimmed the fenders and left them like they were.

When you say small cutting wheel, did you cut diagonally along the fender? Or did you make small vertical cuts all along the fender and bend the pieces back?
