fender removal quick question

Default fender removal quick question

ok...I am going to the junkyard this weekend to get two fenders for my 99 xj...can someone let me know what exact tools to bring as a friend with many more tools is bringing the tools...need to tell him what I need....thanks!

torque bits ,phillips screw driver ,and some sockets off the top of my head since you have to remove the header panel to take off the fenders well atleast on earlier models

Ive removed it a few times. a good torx set i think a size 27. A set or sockets and ratchet. Size 13mm and size 11mm. You need to remove that head panel that holds the headlights in. take the 3 torx bolts out. Open the hood take the 4/5 torxs bolts out. open then door remove the 2 torx bolts in there. and then remove the 2 torx bolts on the bottom underneath the door. That should be all the bolts. It maybe connected under then fender underneath that plastic mud guard stuff A piece of metal between the two. Can snip that off. Good luck.

Take something to snip wires just in case & my inner fender was held with 10's I think?? Can't be sure though

I had a problem with the two bottom bolts under the door, they were seized and I had to go back to the junkyard the next day with a hacksaw to get them off.

If it was me i wouldnt have of hack sawed em off. I wouldve PB blasted it. You may need those 2 bolt holes.
