Faulty airbag sensor?

Default Faulty airbag sensor?

Sorry for reposting the question. But original thread goes too long.

Here is my question: My 99 cherokee AWD, automatic, 6 cyl sometimes will lose all gauges, while at the same time, airbag light is on. I wonder if a faulty airbag control module will cause this?

There was a recall by DC that moves the AirBag Module from under the drivers seat to the tranny tunnel (under the center consol). There are a variety of websites where you can pull up info about recalls for all vehicles made/sold in the US, or you can wait till Monday and call the dealer with your VIN Number and ask about open recalls for your rig.

Thanks. I am aware of that recall. But I believe this recall has been done on my car as pull the seat today and found out the control module was relocated. So I
want to know if the airbag module goes bad, will it affect the gauges? I remember the harness to airbag module is connected to instrument cluster.

Sounds to me like your problem is bad connections on the back of the gauge cluster. Quite common in the 97+ Cherokee's and Wranglers. Take the instrument cluster out and clean the connections on the back of it.

Today, I pulled the instrument cluster and cleaned the harness with air duster ( although it does not look bad at all). Then my gauges come back to life at every start. Looks like I solved the problem. Hopefully it will never come back.
