Default Fan switch doesn't work

Hey guys ...
I have a issue with my '93 Cherokee. Went though some pretty deep water a while back and since then my fan switch will not work. It is stuck on "Heat". I can slide the button normally, but nothing changes inside to reroute the air path. When I switch it to "Vent" it stays blowing out of the "Heat" ducts. When I turn it to a/c it does blow cold air but just out of the "Heat" ducts.
I would love some advise before I start ripping out the dash to find the problem. Thanks!

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Check all your hoses.

the vacuum ball behind the front bumper has a crack in it where it mounts to the bumper. There was even a little water in it. Would this be the issue?
