My build sheet says "50 state emissions" so I assume that means it has the CA package?

Probably, just look under the hood on the drivers side. Do you see 2 little mini-cats on your exhaust manifold?

While you're changing the manifold, this would be a good time to do the motor mounts. Atleast the one that is bad on the drivers side that caused the crack in the 1st place. I'm on my 2nd replacement now. My mount was shot on the DS. There's too much play in the stock mounts to begin with but if you have ones that are worn out then it'll put too much stress on the new manifold too. And you'll be back to square one. I purcgased the Rugged Ridge one with the "Flex" sections on it and it cracked anyway due to the mounts. I will be going for an APN next with upgraded mounts when the $$ is available.

Ok so do you think the rugged ridge one will be fine with new mounts?

I personally wouldn't go with the Rugged Ridge one again if it was given to me even thought it lasted me about 2 years. I feel it's a job you shouldn't have to do again once it's done. Looking at the design, it doesn't help at all where the manifold cracks anyway. Besides the fact that it was actually the welds themselves that failed so it's poor workmanship in my book as well. This is why I'm going with the APN. Now, I've read that guys cracked these, but they hammered and beat the hell out of the Jeep in order to do it.
I just tried to seal my manifold (worked on 2 of 3 cracks) and I threw in stock Advance Auto motor mounts for now. It cost be just over 20 bucks for the pair so I threw them in to get me by until I can get the set up I want. I plan on doing upgraded motor mounts when I put the APN manifold in. Then I know I won't have the problem ever again. Whatever you do, if you plan on offroading with it at all, do NOT use another stock manifold. There is a seller on ebay that has APN headers for the cheapest I've found so far. Just type APN Cherokee in the search box on ebay and it will come up. http://www.ebay.com/itm/280759022616...84.m1423.l2649

Hmmm, searching around you may need to go with a Banks header for those years. Mine is a 99 so I found one for mine right away. Never even thought to look for a 2000 or 2001 since it didn't pertain to me.

If you got solid motor mounts, you could PROBABLY run any header/manifold you wanted to. Problem is, the more stiff/solid your mounts are, the more vibration/drone you'll get at an idle. The motor mounts (rubber) absorb all that vibration so you don't feel it, but then they allow too much play eventually causing cracking to the manifolds. I'm currently checking out 2 motor mount companies but doing some real searching around for what people are experiencing with them before I buy a pair. You could probably replace the header once and never have it crack if you change the drivers side motor mount once a year so it's always fresh. But that could get annoying after a while. BUT, it is better than swapping a manifold again. Either way, the Jeep keeps you by it's side working on it.

...the picture does not appear to have enough stuff in it. I was under the impression that your current manifold is all one piece from the mounting flange on the engine to the SINGLE exhaust connection somewhere in the vicinity of your oil pan. The picture is missing both cats, but more importantly, the 2-to-1 collector after the pre-cats... I would verify that your current manifold can un-bolt after the pre-cats (but before the single exhaust pipe) unless you want to do some fab work.

And on the subject of motor mounts: If you motor mounts go bad, your tranny mount will also likely go bad. If you then replace the motor mounts without replacing a bad tranny mount, you are just going to kill your new motor mounts faster.

If you have an '00/'01 with the extra pre-cats, then you also have 4 O2 sensors reporting to the ECU. If the ECU does not get info it deems "accurate" from those O2 sensors, then you get a check engine light, and generally you fail inspection/smog. One can not simply put in an earlier manifold without the pre-cats/O2 bungs and drive away without creating additional problems. Unless you want to do WAY more work, if you have an '00/'01 with the extra cats, you need to put in the correct manifold with the O2 bungs and with the pre-cats.

I was referring to "any" manifold as in any brand that carries his year INCLUDING a stock replacement. He's not going to put a Mustang header on a Jeep!

my current manifold unbolts above the two pre-cats so the rugged ridge header will fit without a problem

Or why not just weld the crack?
