Default Transmission rattle

I have a rattle coming from the transmission/torque converter area when my 2001 Cherokee Sport is sitting still at idle. If I put it in neutral it stops. It only seems to do it once it is warmed up. Any thoughts on what it might be?

1st thing to check.. Pull your inspection plate and make sure the torque converter bolts are tight. Also inspect the flywheel for cracks while you're in there. This is a common problem on our XJ's. Take a peek at the cat converter too. Kick it and see if the insides are falling apart. (You'd hear a rattling then too)

Good luck.

Have you found out what was causing your rattle? I have a 2000 with the same problem and can't figure it out.
