Default Failed Inspection for Craxk in Headers

anyone know where I can find relatively decent priced headers for a 2001 xj? I searched on here and I've been searching online and all I can find is headers for up to 2000 xj's and they all say they won't fit my car.

Even if it says it won't fit? It may be a noob question but I'm not really looking to order something and find out it doesn't it once it's here haha

'00 & '01 engines are identical in every way. The only potential thing I can think that *could* be a problem with header fitment would be the emissions package (i.e. CA emissions). If you have a CA emissions vehicle, the headers are different (they have 2 pre-cats installed), but again, that is NOT a distinction between '00 & '01 (both years' CA Emissions package has the same set-up). If the headers will fit an '00 with the same emission package as you have (which is unlikely to be a CA emissions vehicle) then it WILL fit your '01. Every time.

would these fit? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-4-0L-Jee...407032&vxp=mtr i know it says they only go up to a 1999 but i cant imagine that a 1999 would be that much different from a 2000 or 2001

Actually.... I don't know. The standard groupings go:

'96-'99 (almost totally interchangeable)
'00-'01 interchangeable.

I know that the heads are different between a '00/'01 and a '99, but I don't know if that is limited to the mounting boss for the coil packs or if the ports are slightly different. I know the port size/location has morphed throughout the life of the 4.0, but I don't know if that will work without modification.

Checked the Auto Zone website as well. It is showing the same part number for both years as far as exhaust manifolds

Yeah this 01 has been nothing but a massive pain in the *** Honestly at this point i would trade it for 97-99 in a heartbeat. it so difficult to find crap for it because its all gotta be so specific, its almost like driving a foreign car

What about these? a thread on jeep forum said they would fit but once again doesn't say anything about 00-01 xjs.

It will fit but the problem is that the 2000-2001 model requires a two bong type. What you posted from ebay will fit but won't pass emission with ur current computer. from what i was told the only way that will work is if you can get the computer from a pre-'00 xj and it's wiring harness so that you don't have to deal with 4 O2 sensor.
I have an '01 and like yours it has dual precats before the main cat. What i got for it is a two piece borla header: http://lgcdn.jeep4x4center.com/media...17202_6320.jpg
or this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Banks-Exhaus...ht_1997wt_1163

the pre-cats: http://static1.apwcontent.com/includ...ges/spacer.gif

I hope that helped a bit

As I mentioned, not ALL '00 & '01 XJs have this set-up. The Pre-Cats (or 4 O2 setup) is for the "CA Emissions" package only. Don't be fooled by the name: this package is not for CA vehicles only, but it is not common in most states. You need to check which emission package you have before you can determine which exhaust manifold you need to purchase. I would guess that MOST '00 & '01 XJs DO NOT have the CA Emissions package.

Well, if his does come with the CA emission package...those 2 bung headers is what he will need but we don't know until the OP tells us what he has :/
