I'm in need of flares for my 98 XJ but Im not okay with spending $400 on a set, or needing a welder, pipe bender, etc to make my own. I was wondering if anyone has tried retro fitting a set of factory Wrangler flares to fit on the Cherokee since they already cover alot more tire than factory Cherokee flares? If this has been done or its just waaay to much trouble please speak up, thanks. Oh and pics would be awesome.

the pics of my jeep are TJ rear flares on the front, whereas the pic of the red jeep above mine are the front TJ flares. some people like the look of the rear flares on the front better, including me. so you would need four rear tj flares, two for the front and two for the back, or just a set of fronts and rears if you dont mind the look of the red jeep.

I really like yours, and mines the same color too lol. How'd you mount them? What trim is that running down the sides? Another problem for me is I have a snorkel that will interfere with the front left fenderf flare, ill need to cut the flare but I want it to remain rigid. How do people get around that?

Im supposed to meet up with a guy today and pick up a set of front and rears for $40. On afterthought Im going to try and score just a pair of rears and run 4 rears.
rweaver- You didnt do this mod the same way the Aussy did in 89PBR96's link? The reason I ask is because my fenders are already trimmed and those backing plates are probably already gone etc. I kinda figured it would just be a matter of trimming the sheet metal off the fenders, drilling holes that match with the flares, and bolting/screwing them in. I didnt realize I would need a backing plate, is it really necessary?

Gotcha, the fella just dropped the flares off. Im still gonna see about getting another pair of rears but Ill probably go ahead and re-trim and drill what I can. Any tips before I go for it? Did you trim the flares any and hows the clearance between the rear doors and flares?
