factory front skid plate

Not really lazy, well...sometimes. it's just hard to get the bolts out of the passenger side rear mount. I used nuts and bolts so I have to squeeze my arms through the steering components and somehow hold the bolt head while i unscrew the nut with my toes.

Those bolts are a PITA for sure. I think a floor jack helps when removing the front skid.

skid will also hand up on massivly bent tie rods too, happened on my 89, solution would be to replace the tie rod, which i did. but i didn't like the idea that it was so close. I'm only at 3" of lift
Look above at post #24 and you can see how it's mounted.

Get the skid plate and tow hooks...or just the tow hooks. Brush guards look nice but are very much useless. The skid plate would keep water and mud away from your fan and protect some of your steering parts. The hooks are mandatory on most trail rides. So those two I would do first. I'm not sure if you can mount both hooks and skid plate though. I never did that.
Not to drag up an old thread. But how do you remove the 15mm bolts on the subframe that hold the factory skid plate. I can't seem to get in there and get a good bite on the bolts to take them out.

just crawl under the jeep is bout the only way i can think of......might be a little tight if your not lifted but nothing some extensions and u-joints shouldnt be able to handle
I use two 6" socket extensions with a deep 15mm socket. You can also reach it from the side instead of underneath.
