Just pulled apart my dash to install a stereo deck. I have a 1995 sport xj with a blank spot in the dash (between stering column and lighter). When I pulled the dash off there's two cables behind the blank spot (see attachment). Wondering what they're for. Perhaps some sort of fancy



gauge or maybe the power/comfort switch that my last XJ had.

 

that or for rear washer/wiper

 

looked at my extra switches the power/comfort has 3 wires,wiper/washer is 4

 

perhaps fog lights, thats what mine was for.,

 

if you look, you will see that xjs have more unused/useless plugs and wires than you will ever know what to do with.

 

The little round black connector is for a light.

The light goes into the back of the switch ( that the 4 wire connector goes to ) to illuminate it when you turn on your lights.

I have no clue as to what the 4 wire connector is for.

 

agree with mike albo above, rear window wiper, washer, and the light is for the indicator above it, illuminates a pic of washer wiper.

 

rear window wiper, trans power switch, fog lights and rear window defroster. you should have the other two on your left looking at the dash. whats cool is that the wiring is all pre run, if you want to hook any of this stuff up all you have to do is get the parts and plug them in.
