exhaust woes.. need help
Alright guys here goes.
I have a95 sport i purchased a few months ago.
I recently purchased a glasspack to replace my stock muffler.. Well running into some problems. The previous owner, for whatever reason replaced the cat with a peice of straight pipe, this pipe is 2.50" where the stock is 2".. So i had to get a 2.50" glasspack.. Anyway i have access to a welder but my welding skills suck.. So i bought a 2.75" adapter to simply slide onto the glasspack and onto the pipe.. Well i bout 2.75" clamps to do this.. Well the 2.75"clamps just wouldnt do it, so i went and got 3inch clamps and tested them on the glasspack before i left. got home and slid the glasspack onto the pipe and went to tighten it down.. And the adapter is beveling.. Its tightening up on the top and bottom of the pipe, but bulging out on the sides, allowing the muffler to move side to side so i cant get it tight enough to feel comfortable with it to drive it.... Plus when i crunk it up.. It is alot louder than i thought it would be.. Maybe because it isnt fully wrapped around the pipe tight? I need some suggestions..

since you have the welder maybe buy a catco high flow cat? sounds like the guy before you wanted higher flow but forgot that back pressure is critical.

If I were you I would consider two options
1. Cut slit on the glass pack, and or all your connections, so when the clamp is applied, it will all squeeze together better.
2. Order yourself a 2.5magna flow cat from amazon, a 2.5 flow master 40 or 44( most prefer 40) , and a 2.5 tailpipe.

Your 2 3/4" adapter is too big to join 2 1/2" pipe.Your muff and pipe are 2 1/2 OD,so you need an adapter that's 2 1/2 ID,which'd be 2 5/8,or 2.625 OD
I went thru the same thing recently on a different car.I didn't know bout the slit idea either till after I got the right size adapter
